Guided examination of conscience.
Three modes — Quick, Deep, and Pre-Confession — walk you through the Ten Commandments with Catechism references, severity hints, and private notes for each item. Calibrated to your state of life. Pick up where you left off.
- State-of-life-aware prompts (single, married, parent, religious)
- Catechism references and severity guidance
- Pre-confession mode for the day you go
- Add private notes the priest never sees

Walk in ready.
The pre-confession script you've been wanting. A full-screen dark mode with the opening, your sins by commandment, and the Act of Contrition expanded line-by-line — right when the moment arrives.
- Auto-brightness for the dark of the booth
- Your sins, grouped by commandment
- Two Acts of Contrition — traditional and modern
- Auto-delete after you walk out absolved

Your sins never leave your phone.
A confession companion has no business knowing what you confessed. Confess. was engineered so it can't.
No analytics. No telemetry. No crash logs. The app cannot describe its users because it doesn't know they exist.
The encryption used by intelligence services. Key stored in the iOS Keychain. Locked to your hardware.
No sign-up. No email. No password to recover, because there's nothing to recover. Your phone is the server.
The app makes two read-only network calls — to a Catholic daily readings API and an open-source prayer library — to display liturgical content. No user data is ever transmitted.
End your day with God.
A guided five-step Ignatian examen — gratitude, awareness, review, sorrow, hope — with timed reflection, journaling, and voice notes. Close the day before sleep takes it.
- Five steps, one minute or twenty — your pace
- Voice notes for thoughts that won't sit still
- An encrypted spiritual journal that searches
- Gentle pattern recognition — no scores, no streaks

A Catholic companion for every day.
The full prayer library, today's Gospel reading, 170+ saints with biographical context, and a liturgical calendar that knows what season you're in — and shapes the examination prompts accordingly.
- 80+ prayers — essentials, Marian, penitential, daily
- Today's Gospel and liturgical color
- 170+ saints with patronages and intercessions
- Season-aware examination of conscience

Quick answers.
Is Confess. free?
Yes. Confess. is free to download and use. There are no in-app purchases, no subscriptions, no ads, and no premium tier.
Do I need to create an account?
No. There are no accounts, no sign-ups, and no email required. The app has no concept of "user" — it works entirely on your device.
Does the app work offline?
Yes. The examination of conscience, journal, examen prayer, prayer library, and confession guide all work entirely offline. Only the daily Gospel reading reference requires a network connection.
What does the app do that a printed examination of conscience doesn't?
It remembers privately, encrypts everything, and walks you through the rite in the confessional — including expanding the Act of Contrition full-screen at the moment you need it. A booklet can prepare you. The app comes with you.
